The Study of Life Adapting to the Chaos of Cityscape

Throughout the series, Kar Mern Tan tries to capture the buildings of today in Kuala Lumpur. Some of these buildings have become iconic buildings and landmark of their time. A lot of new development has come at the cost of existing structures. At this junction, she is curious about the cities of the future might look like. As sturdy as we think our civilisation is, Its grip on nature is tenuous as best. If any cracks appear in the faces of our buildings, nature is quick to move in and take over. Our buildings would begin to crumble soon after without human maintenance or energy sources. Here she uses drypoint etching to serve a visual historical document and record.
