Tan Kar Mern (b. 1989, Malaysia) chose to represent an artistic impression of an “ASEAN city”, combining traditional and contemporary architectural designs, including real and imaginary buildings. Tan’s print concept was shaped by a fascination of how people from different cultures have come together to form ASEAN, sharing customs and beliefs to foster “unity in diversity”. The cityscape also includes elements such as wind turbines to convey the possibility of a harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.
